  • Adventure Racing

This past weekend, my friend Andrew Boneff and I competed in an adventure race.  The race consisted of running, hiking, biking and canoeing. We also had to cross a creek using ropes to pull ourselves and our bikes across.  It was very difficult, but very cool.  The race was an awesome time, with our only trouble coming during the canoeing part. I misguided us a little bit, and we ended up having to portage across land two or 3 times, and had to avoid a large snake we almost ran into.  We ended up finishing 5th out of 12 people in the same gender 2 person division, which I was very happy with as it was only our first race and only Boneff's second time in the canoe.  Here is a map of the canoeing we did, Google Earth says it was 11.56 miles, and I had our biking at 32.67 miles. I think we did almost 55 miles if you add in all of the walking and hiking and running we did.  The race was 12 hours, and I can't wait to do it again.

  • Ride

Rode again tonight, rode to Saf's to swim and from there headed to volleyball.  On the way to volleyball, I stopped at Lindenwood Nature Preserve because I have noticed the last few nights they have left the gates open, so I rode around the trails there a little bit.  Some really nice trails, but bikes aren't allowed. It would be neat to hike them though, only about 4 or 5 miles worth of trails, but it would be fun to do.  From there to River City, then from there to J.K's to eat dinner, then home in the dark.  I was dead by the time I got home.  My cyclometer broke on the way home, so I just am going to go with Google Earth values for tonight.  I know I was around 12 when I got to vball, and it is about 8 miles from there, so the 20.71 it came up with seems okay. Weather high was 76 with the low after volleyball about 56.  Good ride, I was dead at the finish, with my break being volleyball league.
Hope the photo turns out okay, Google Earth wouldn't save tonight for some reason.

  • Epic Ride to Find Boneff

Yesterday I went on the longest bike ride of my life, to meet up with my buddy Boneff who was riding even farther than I was. We finally met up around Marion, which was about twice as far as I had planned on going to meet up with him. My computer on my bike said I went 63.6 mi. in 4:13:01.  It said I averaged 15 mph.
Here is google earth of what I did, close to it, as it says I went over 64.
